Credit Cards
Credit And Your Life
Most all of us adult people on this planet spend time working and playing. Sometimes there isn't a balance between the two, and you hope that if the balance isn't there, that doesn't necessarily mean excessive use of credit cards is involved. Some people put all of their lives into their businesses and don't think of the damage that credit cards are doing to their future financial situation. And some people like to take it easy and not work enough, ringing up enough credit card debt to do themselves in for life. Either way, credit cards can be dangerous if not used in the right way. And most of the people in this world don't know how to properly use credit cards, which is a very unfortunate fact.
Your Credit Card Balance
In case you aren't aware, carrying balances on your credit cards is an extremely easy and equally dangerous thing to do. Everyone has heard of APR, such as how it's good to get credit cards with low or zero APRs, because that means you can continue to spend and not have to worry about paying any interest -- until that period of low APR runs out. And then it's too late because you've spent much more than your budget allows you to. And there is the fundamental problem with credit cards -- it's so easy to swipe your card and forget how much you spend. Then the next day, you do it again. Before you know it you get a bill in the mail that you can't pay off with money from that month's paychecks. So you pay a small part of it and leave the rest for the next month. Then, before you know it, and after months upon months of adding a little debt every time, the debt has grown to an unmanageable amount. And then you're in trouble for the long term. It's no fun to dig yourself out of a long-term hole.
It's As Easy As...
...paying off your balance every month! If you aren't going to be able to pay off your credit cards in a reasonable amount of time, you shouldn't be buying whatever it is you're buying. It's as simple as that -- don't overspend! Credit cards are easy to use if you remember that simple rule. If you don't think you're disciplined enough for that, start yourself out on secured credit cards instead. some people use these as bad credit credit cards, and others use them as student credit cards. They're the same as regular credit cards, but they're prepaid, so you avoid high APRs and crazy late fees or over-the-limit fees.
Now that you know a little more about effective credit card use, do the research to find which cards offer you the best rates. Think about what you can really spend each month while still saving some of that income. Too many of us do not budget and then end up with far more to pay back to the issuer than we can afford. Instead, use your Chase credit cards responsibly. Pay off those balances at the end of each month and you will not have to worry about interest accruing or all of those annoying late fees. If you have had problems paying off balances in the past, then you may want to think about choosing one of the many prepaid credit cards available today.
